If you are looking for a livelier atmosphere on your cheap holidays to Matagorda then Puerto del Carmen, located just a few miles away, is the place to visit. A long promenade with restaurants, shops and bars runs along the edge of the beach from Matagorda to Puerto Del Carmen and is great for an evening stroll in the warm evening air. Timanfaya National Park, a nature reserve with an epic rocky landscape, volcano and black volcanic beaches, is not far from the resort and makes a great day out for the whole family. Here at the reserve you can take in the magnificent views across the island and out to sea and enjoy a meal at the restaurant which uses heat direct from the earth’s core to cook your steak just how you like it.
