La Gomera is an ecological paradise. Few places in the world have the natural wealth of this volcanic island which has a variety of landscapes. La Gomera is a beautiful island with countless tracks and trails. During the 1970′s it was regarded as an “island of hippies”, but that has all changed now with most of the big tour operators offering bargain holidays to this beautiful island.

Garajonay National Park
After El Hierro, La Gomera is the smallest of the Canary Islands, about 10 percent of it’s surface area is covered by the Garajonay National Park which has been declared a Mankind Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Island, in the centre of the westernmost part of the Canary Islands, between La Palma, El Hierro and Tenerife, is the ideal setting for outdoor activities throughout the year.
Benign temperatures make it easy to enjoy activities like rural tourism or trekking. Average temperatures of 22 °C in winter and 27 °C in summer give rise to feelings of eternal spring. The trade winds, which bring welcome rains, have generated a lush vegetation of interesting native species that in turn encourage the formation of clouds that give its forests a certain other worldly charm.

La Gomera,terrace farming
The scenery in Gomera is splendid with an amazing system of terrace farming and thousands of palm trees perched on steep green valleys. The Gomera scenery is varied and full of contrasts, with impressive gorges (barrancos), grand rock monoliths, palm groves and the Garajonay National Park, which offers an unprecedented ecological treasure of crystal clear waters and lush laurel forests.
A special effort has been made to conserve the natural treasures of La Gomera. This can be seen in the many protected areas, including Garajonay, Benchijigua Integral Nature Reserve, Puntallana Special Nature Reserve,
